Lecturers are mixing and not always matching theories and perceptions, proper orthodox syntax with bits of pragmatics and things that have come their way (or so it seems).

This seems to be the case in the "new" universities (if the title is
still applicable), or new colleges incorporated in the old colleges.
It might sound fun, if only they also added a rationale for what they are doing, and not just give students a flimsy pack of "things to learn" with no guidance whatsoever. Or so it seems to this tutor.
