The UK secondary education system offers the students the opportunity to have their exam papers remarked, usually to their advantage (when borderline grades are involved). Too many people referring to a 7 for GCSE as a "low A" these days. After witnessing the harshness of exam marking in 2023 (usually mocks are "harshly marked", not the exam papers themselves), requests for remarking and upgrades ought to be in students' and parents' 2024 planned strategy for progress into A levels or University entry.
